CCE and CCE Turbo now support Kubernetes v1.35 in both EU-DE and EU-NL regions. This release introduces capabilities that improve traffic routing, workload management, storage, and security.
New Features & Enhancements:
- Cilium for CCE Turbo: Cilium, the CCE DataPlane v2, is now available for CCE Turbo clusters without prior whitelisting.
- More powerful control plane: Starting with this version, the control plane (master) nodes of CCE clusters run on the new C9 instance generation, delivering up to 30% higher performance for cluster management operations.
- PreferSameNode traffic distribution: Service traffic is now preferentially forwarded to the endpoints on the same node as the client, reducing cross-node traffic and latency.
Compatibility Updates:
- cgroup v1: In Kubernetes 1.35 and later versions, cgroup v1 is marked as deprecated and is not supported by default. CCE v1.35 clusters support cgroup v2 and remain compatible with operating systems configured to use cgroup v1. cgroup v2 will be available soon on CCE.
- containerd 1.x: Kubernetes 1.35 is the last version to support containerd 1.x. Starting with CCE v1.35, containerd 2.x is used by default for worker nodes. For more information about the key changes, potential impacts, and compatibility considerations, please refer to containerd 2.x Release Notes.
- EulerOS: As announced in the CCE v1.34 release note, CCE v1.35 no longer supports EulerOS. Customers currently using EulerOS are strongly advised to begin planning and executing their migration as early as possible.
Important notes:
- Cluster certificate rotation required for early customers: Cluster certificates for early CCE customers (those who created clusters in early 2022) begin expiring in January 2027. Unless you rotate them using the upgraded management plane, cluster failures and disruptions will occur. Please plan to rotate your cluster certificates before they expire. See CCE Cluster Certificate Validity Period and Rotating Cluster Certificates.
- Before upgrading — containerd 2.x: Check that your workloads are compatible with containerd 2.x, which is used by default in CCE v1.35. Review the Pre-upgrade Check for deprecated APIs, unsupported images, and containerd directory mounts.
The feature changes in CCE v1.35 are described in the Help Center. More information about Kubernetes 1.35 can be found in the CCE Kubernetes 1.35 Release Notes and Official Kubernetes 1.35 Release Blog.
