World Summit AI: The epicenter of artificial intelligence

October 9 and 10: World Summit AI in Amsterdam
October 9 and 10: World Summit AI in Amsterdam

In this article you will read,

  • what you can expect at the World Summit AI,
  • what contributions T Cloud Public will be making,
  • and what role our AI chatbot will play at the conference.

The heart of the AI world will be beating in Amsterdam on October 9th and 10th. That's when the World AI Summit will be held there again – under the claim: “The only AI Summit in the world that matters”. T Cloud Public will be hosting a workshop in which it will provide insights into services it has developed for artificial intelligence, and present and discuss the project results.

Intense debate on artificial intelligence (AI) – all topics, all perspectives

“Is 2024 the year of reckoning for AI?” asks the motto of the conference. AI has grown up fast, and enables novel, highly efficient and effective solutions to some of the world's most pressing problems. But on the other hand, the rapid progress has triggered a global debate about ethics, data protection and public trust.

Accordingly, the agenda includes not only companies such as PepsiCo, ING, VW, Zalando, or IKEA and small IT companies specializing in AI, but also many representatives of government organizations such as Homeland Security, the United Nations (UN), the British government, or the Dutch Digital Infrastructure Authority. Another group of contributors comes from internationally renowned research institutes such as the New York Academy of Sciences, the Universities of Amsterdam, Leiden, Delft, Helsinki and Umeå. It is therefore worth attending to gain an up-to-date picture of artificial intelligence and its possibilities.

T Cloud Public at the World Summit AI

The curtain will be raised on T Cloud Public on Tuesday, October 9th. From 13:00 to 13:30, AI architect Ferenc Kukucska will be holding a “Practical AI Masterclass in the biggest European OpenStack Cloud with LLM and ML”.  In addition to giving an insight into the development of their own chatbot on T Cloud Public website, two other AI services will be demonstrated: a “people counter” and a “landslide detector”.

New AI use cases

“With the new use cases, we want to show how AIs can be developed on T Cloud Public using ModelArts and Large Language Models,” says Ferenc Kukucska, describing the intention of the masterclass. “At the same time, we offer a look behind the scenes by discussing the pros and cons of the various frameworks and technologies we have used with experts.”

The people counter enables the numerical recording of crowds, e.g. at large events. The model developed can also be easily transferred to other scenarios in which objects need to be counted. With the landslide detector, T Cloud Public is addressing a highly topical disaster prevention issue. “As part of the European earth observation program Copernicus, for which we provide IT infrastructure, high-quality satellite images are freely available. Our AI analyzes these images and uses them to generate a geoservice that detects landslides,” explains AI architect Kukucska. The service allows emergency services to react quickly to such disasters in order to save lives.
