As a European cloud provider, Deutsche Telekom's T Cloud Public has now officially become part of the framework agreement for cloud and AI services awarded by GovTech Deutschland to Bechtle AG. This makes Telekom one of the cloud platforms in the portfolio that combines European digital sovereignty with the capabilities of modern hyperscale infrastructure. Federal, state, and local government organizations can now procure cloud and AI infrastructure directly, without lengthy individual tendering processes and under clearly defined commercial terms.

Its services are designed for enterprises and public-sector organizations that require uncompromising security. Going forward, DCSO will use Deutsche Telekom's T Cloud Public as the platform for its security services. By doing so, one of Germany's leading cybersecurity providers has deliberately chosen a sovereign cloud infrastructure made in Germany. Against the backdrop of growing cyber threats and increasingly stringent regulatory requirements, this partnership demonstrates that digital sovereignty is not a nice-to-have—it's a strategic success factor.

An in-house solution reached its limits when it came to the requirements for global scalability and flexibility. U.S. hyperscalers were not a viable alternative either. "When we serve a Swiss corporation, it does not want its data to reside in Germany or the United States," explains Steinbis. Customers required guarantees that sensitive data would remain within the legal jurisdiction of their own country—a commitment that is often qualified in the fine print of U.S. providers' contracts. Bosch's subsidiary therefore chose T Cloud Public. As Europe's answer to the global hyperscalers, it is built on the open-source OpenStack platform and combines the scalability of a public cloud with strict digital sovereignty. With data centers located exclusively in Europe and operations fully compliant with the GDPR, it provides the legal certainty required by organizations operating in highly regulated industries—from the public sector to healthcare.
